Each summer all across the UK, Rotary Clubs sponsor individual teenagers \u2013 boys and girls \u2013 to attend an adventure week, the Rotary Youth Leadership Award – RYLA.\u00a0 This year Ludlow Rotary Club\u2019s candidate was Jared Forte and he recently gave a fascinating talk to the Club about his experiences on the five day residential course.<\/p>\n

He admitted to feeling a little homesick on the first morning after being soaked to the skin in the initial ice breaking exercises, and Jared\u2019s team failed their first teamwork task, but as the week progressed, and the team members grew to know each other\u2019s strengths and to work together, the team did really well and became tightly knit and successful.\u00a0 A surprising number of the challenges seemed to involve mud and water, but there were great motivational speakers and Jared made new friends.<\/p>\n

Jared (second from left) said \u201cThe course helped me understand the need for teamwork and I now feel more confident working on group projects with fellow students at Ludlow College, where I am currently studying\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ludlow Rotary Club are now looking for a candidate for next year\u2019s course.\u00a0 You should be a full-time student and aged 16 or 17 on 12 August 2018.\u00a0 Course fees of \u00a3475 will be met by Ludlow Rotary Club, as will travel costs, and you should be available to attend the 5 day course from 12th to 17th August 2018.<\/p>\n
