Following the success of Ludlow Rotary Club\u2019s first Duck Race last year, which raised over \u00a32,500 for good causes, the club will held another on Bank Holiday Monday 26 May.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Race 1 4764<\/p>\n Race 2 5270<\/p>\n Race 3 5649<\/p>\n Race 4 6007<\/p>\n Race 5 6861<\/p>\n We will be contacting the winners.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n This fun event is\u00a0 arranged to raise funds for Ludlow Rotary Cares, the club\u2019s community grants scheme, and other Rotary causes<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>All told there will be five<\/span> \u2018duck races\u2019 beginning at 11am with everyone who sponsors a duck for \u00a32 having the chance of winning \u00a3100 if theirs is the first across the winning line.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n There will be plenty of opportunity to cheer on the ducks from the banks of the river on the day.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Planning a duck race is no mean feat as the ducks have to be corralled into pens of 500 then decanted into boxes of 100. Each box of 100 ducks is then put into numbered bags, checked and double checked to make sure each ticket sold is allocated to a duck. When all the ducks are sorted, they are stored in bags ready for the big day.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n As Ray Cork of Ludlow Rotary explained \u201cEven more challenging will be launching the ducks from the weir at the start and then ensuring that all the ducks are collected and none escape at the end of each race. During this process we expect there to be a lot of laughing and counting and, if last year is anything to go by, some cheering in the hope that some of us involved may even get a little wet.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Ducks will be available to sponsor on the day, but queues may be avoided by sponsoring them in advance <\/span>online at www.ludlowrotaryclub.org.uk
