Three men in Tanzania

Three men in Tanzania – an open letter from Club President Fiona Jacklin to the members of Ludlow Rotary Club

Three of our members are leaving in the next few days to go for 3 weeks the Msasani school in Tanzania.

Ludlow Rotary Club has a long association with Msasani and Roy Major, Ali Huddart and John Wilson are currently involved in seeking a Rotary Global Grant for financial support towards the next stage in the project to build extra toilet facilities and a community kitchen. Ali’s partner Gabi Shepherd will also deliver the food hygiene training element of the project.

This has been a complex ,lengthy and sometimes fraught procedure with Roy liaising with many Rotary organisations to get necessary support including Ludlow Rotary Club (USA), our local District 1210 Foundation committee and Rotary in Tanzania. Our Club has also committed monies to ensure the project can go ahead if the Global Grant is unsuccessful.

The school has been the focus of our International outreach for several years, particularly through the dogged hard work of Roy and Ali, and the Msasani school are very excited that their friends from Ludlow Rotary are coming again! Everyone at Msasani is committed to working together to achieve their goals for their children and their wider community.

Our Team will be back mid December and we look forward to hearing how they got on and welcome their news in the New Year

I know that you all join me in wishing them a safe journey and a successful trip.

Fiona Jacklin

President, Ludlow Rotary Club UK
